Sycamore maple wood is one of the most valuable precious hardwoods. It is known for its characteristic yellowish white to white color. The heartwood of the Norway maple is more reddish-white. The annual rings are clearly recognizable and between them are irregularly arranged pores and medullary rays, which are visible as spots or stripes. Cherry wood is also a noble hardwood and is known for its calm structure and decorative appearance. As cherry is a heartwood tree, the heartwood is darker than the sapwood. In cherry wood, the sapwood is approx. 2.5-5 cm wide and yellowish to reddish white, whereas the heartwood is initially yellowish to reddish brown. Exposure to light changes the color of the wood and usually results in a dark reddish-brown or golden-brown tone. Cherry wood is also known for its high resistance and is therefore perfect for sophisticated kitchen equipment.
