Snack knife / breakfast knife with beech handle - humpback knife from Solingen
Wonderful knife for the breakfast table for crumb-free cutting of bread and rolls, but also cheese or salami and for spreading butter or spreads. A classic that has been part of the Windmühlenmesser range since the very beginning. Blade length 118mm The breakfast knife consists of a stainless chrome-molybdenum-vanadium steel blade and a handle made of pear wood from fruit farms in the Black Forest, which has a velvety-soft, light brown color and a subtle grain. The blade is hand-bladed and the handle is carefully ground and finely polished. These knives require special care and are not dishwasher-safe under any circumstances. They also react to washing in dishwater by fading and drying out the wood. It is best to rinse them under running water with the blade pointing downwards. Immediate drying and, if necessary, oiling with a wood care oil guarantees long-lasting enjoyment of this breakfast knife with one of the oldest blade shapes in Germany. In 2013, the Buckels was included in the well-known compendium "Brands of the Century - Lighthouses on the Sea of Brands" and was awarded the "Brand Award of German Standards".
Ancient German blade shape This knife with its characteristic blade shape has been manufactured in the Solingen factory for over 130 years. This blade shape, so called because of its bulbous or humped shape, is one of the oldest blade shapes in Germany and is therefore called "Uraltdeutsche". The knife used as a "breakfast knife" is ideal for slicing bread rolls or spreading butter due to its traditional thin grind.

Care Instructions for Wooden Products
To ensure lasting enjoyment of our high-quality wooden items, we recommend regular and gentle care. Wood is a natural material – each piece is unique – and deserves special attention in daily use.
Cleaning
Never clean wooden products in the dishwasher. The combination of heat, moisture, and detergents can permanently damage the wood. Instead, wipe the surface with a damp cloth and a little mild dish soap. Dry thoroughly with a clean towel immediately afterward.
Drying
Do not leave wooden products wet or place them on a heat source. Always let them air dry while standing upright. This helps prevent warping or cracking.
Oiling
To keep the surface smooth and resilient, we recommend treating the wood regularly with a natural oil – such as cold-pressed linseed oil. The oil protects against moisture, enhances the wood grain, and gives it a warm appearance.
Apply the oil sparingly to the clean, dry surface using a soft cloth. Wipe off any excess after about 15 minutes and allow it to dry completely – ideally overnight.
Important Notes
- Avoid soaking in water for extended periods.
- Keep away from direct heat or sunlight.
- Oiled wood may darken slightly over time – this is a natural process.
With the right care, your wooden product will remain a durable and natural companion in everyday life. If you have questions or need product recommendations, we’re happy to help!
